About the Business
About United Way of San Diego County
We strengthen our community when we align with partners and leverage our resources to transform lives.
UWSD works in alignment with partners to address inequities in our region and help underserved communities. Together, we leverage the use of data and our partners’ expertise to better understand root causes and put impactful solutions into action.
Today, in partnership with others, we use shared goals, innovation, and proven practices to resolve inequities and transform the lives of children, young adults, and families.
Raise Your Hand, Lend Your Voice
We look forward to creating a greater San Diego with you. Our work, in partnership with others, aligns common goals to leverage resources and expertise that resolves inequities and transform the lives of children, young adults, and families in our region. By working with us, you help us reach that goal. It will take all of us, working together, to make this happen!
How will you make your mark? By joining one of our Network Groups, such as Emerging Leaders, Women United or Tocqueville Society? By reading to kids in the classroom or serving on a nonprofit board? Take a stand with us: bring your talent, your passion, your resources. Together, we can transform lives in our region and change San Diego for the better!
You Can Change Lives
Volunteering with United Way brings businesses, individuals, families, and a network of partner agencies together to create community change. We have a range of opportunities where you, your family, your colleagues, or your business can make a real difference in San Diego.
Last year, 620 United Way volunteers served more than 6,600 hours, valued at $168,010. UWSD also helped an additional 814 volunteers find volunteer opportunities with our community partner organizations. UWSD volunteers participate in community programs year-round, from the annual Read Across America book drive and literacy celebration, to the Day of Action and Readers in the Heights initiatives over the summer, and the Holiday Food and Toy Drive.
Get hands-on in your community! From sorting items in our food pantry to reading to children, we have an engaging opportunity for you to give back to San Diego through your time and your talents.
